The Ramapo College of New Jersey community and the wider baseball world are mourning the tragic loss of Nick Danbrowney, a standout pitcher, social science major, and professional baseball player, who died in a car accident last night. He was a native of Barnegat, New Jersey.

At Ramapo, Danbrowney built an impressive résumé:

2024 Season – Started all 10 appearances on the mound, striking out 50 batters in 58 innings pitched.

2023 Season – Made 11 appearances, including 10 starts, and posted a team-best 6–2 record, with 58 strikeouts across 54.1 innings.

2022 Season – Appeared in 11 games with 10 starts, striking out 45 over 58.2 innings. He also contributed offensively with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. On defense, he tallied eight assists. His outstanding debut year earned him 3x NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week honors.

Before college, Danbrowney was a standout at Barnegat High School, where he was named First Team All-Shore Conference, Second Team All-State, and earned B-South Hitter of the Year honors.

Professional Career

After college, Danbrowney continued his baseball journey with the Bakersfield Train Robbers in the Pecos League. He was celebrated for his strong outings on the mound and his passion for the game. One of his highlights came when he helped lead Bakersfield to a 14–8 victory over the Martinez Sturgeon.

Remembering Nick

Friends, teammates, and coaches describe Danbrowney as more than just an athlete — he was a dedicated student, a loyal teammate, and a proud representative of his hometown. He was also connected to the Barnegat Township Educational Foundation, underscoring his deep ties to his community.

His sudden passing has left Ramapo College athletics, the Bakersfield Train Robbers organization, and his hometown reeling with grief. The Ramapo College of New Jersey and Ramapo College Athletics will miss Nick.

Nick Danbrowney’s legacy will live on in the memories of his teammates, coaches, family, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
